Embarking 101 for the Newbie covers the most important basics that you must master to take full advantage of our machine. If followed correctly, all your embarked domains will be built on a solid foundation. This foundation will richly meet the minimum requirements needed for publishing, and for allowing the DE system to deliver its BEST PUNCH to each and every one of your embarked domain names.!

Keep this in mind: Domain Embarking is not parking. Expect the surfing public to accept your domains as REAL AND RELEVANT WEBSITES. For your own success, (and ours) take a few minutes to really master the following steps.....

Step 1: Adding New Domain Name(s)

 Press the  button at the top right of your control panel to open window below.

1.Please cut and paste one or more domain names (1 domain name per line)
 IMPORTANT:
Correct entry: newname.com
Incorrect entries: www.newname.com or http://www.newname.com

2. Press the ADD NEW DOMAIN NAMES button when ready.
 

3.You will then see your domain name(s) in your portfolio and may proceed to step two.

Step 2. To begin the embarking process click the small blue edit link next to the domain name you wish to embark or work on. The browser will open up the minimum embarking level screen seen below. You will see 5 fields to edit before you can publish any domain name for approval to go live.

  1. Domain Name (Auto-filled already)
  2. Main Keyword
  3. Secondary keywords
  4. Choose category
  5. Title field

BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER - Ask yourself:  What does this domain name mean? Then try to embark your site by using the appropriate keywords, topics and questions that compliment your domain name. IMPORTANT Note: Remember, at DE we don't accept names that mean nothing. ie: rt8dg1.com, and we don't accept trademarked associated domains. ie disneyfilms.com   We DO accept acronyms and some misspells.

Step 3. Main Keyword Field - Enter the most relevant keyword or two-word phrase for the domain name. THIS IS the most important entry to get right. This keyword will be used to populate the page in MANY ways. Things you should think about when selecting this KEY-word are:

  • Will it find on-topic pictures?
  • Will it find on-topic videos?
  • Will it find on-topic news articles?
  • Will it find on-topic Wikipedia page?

Step 4. Second Keyword Field - Enter up to 1-4 more keywords and/or two-word phrases separated by commas. These keywords are used to fill in where you're number one keyword falls short.

IMPORTANT KEYWORD RULES:
  • DO NOT repeat your Main Keyword in the second keyword field!
  • DO NOT use all caps ie: Apple not APPLE!
  • Your keyword should be capitalized ie: Apple not apple
  • Your keyword should be singular not plural ie: Apple not Apples
  • You may use a 2 word phrase. Do not capitalize the second word ie: Apple pie not Apple Pie (Unless using a proper name ie Jane Smith not Jane smith.)
  • If your keyword is "auto" do not add "auto insurance" after it. If "auto insurance" is your target, put it first, then add "auto" after. The machine will find all auto related words and phrases ie: automobile, automotive, auto parts etc.
  • ONLY add 1-4 words in the second keyword field - The DE machine creates your Meta Tag Keyword List behind the scenes from several parts of your entries. Stacking a long string of keywords in the 2nd field does nothing but waste your time by having to create lists, and it takes the machine longer to embark.

Step 5.  Choose Category - Select the best category that fits your name from the category dropdown menu. This will help our machine determine which 3rd party advertising to place on your site.

Step 6. Title Field - Type in the title of your web site. This title will appear on your web site and should contain the actual domain name in the sentence. Also use 2 or 3 of the most relevant keywords associated with your domain name. (These are found by using the "TOP TITLE KEYWORDS" button.)  For example, if your domain name is BestMonkeyFood.com a good title might read like this:

                 "Best Monkey Food Is Your Monkey, Ape, Chimpanzee, And All Primate Food Resource Site!"

 

IMPORTANT: Keep in mind that your title is used in all search engine results.
Limit the title to 14 words or less. (Use all 14 words if possible.)
DO NOT BREAK THIS GOLDEN RULE!

 

  

Step 7. Preview -  Hit the PREVIEW button. It's time to Embark, and preview your new website! When the Embarking process is finished you'll be prompted to continue, and the Preview window will open under your edit screen. You only need to look at the HOMEPAGE to judge the entire website. Take a good look and see if you like the results. You can tweak any of your entries and hit FORCE CONTENT to re-embark. When you're happy with the results proceed to the next step.

Step 8. Publish - You must hit PUBLISH for any new or re-edited domain to go live or show your changes. EVERY site is reviewed by a human being before allowed to go live to the internet. You will receive an email from the system indicating if your name was approved or denied. Please Note: If the reviewer has left comments, you will see this denoted in the subject of the email. Be sure to read the comments. You may reply directly to this email if you have any questions regarding the reviewers comments.

Step 9. Point DNS records: Click here for directions.

Step 10. Repeat steps above for ALL the domain names you EMBARK! (Not park.)
 

IMPORTANT NOTES TO READ:

Please notice when previewing your work what the machine provided for a description based on your main keyword and Wikipedia. If it did not populate the description, or you don't like what it found, your options are as follows:

a.) Change your main keyword and then hit FORCE CONTENT to re-embark and preview changes.

b.) Find any Wikipedia page that compliments your subject matter, and copy the url in to the wiki field found by pressing the MORE button, then the ADVANCED button. Hit PREVIEW to re-embark.

c.) You can write your own description directly in to the description field. We recommend a headline-like title, and at least 2 paragraphs of on topic text.

d.) If you know basic html you can use it in this field. Keep main table at 600 pixels wide or less. Do not include ANY text, pictures, products, links or anything that would violate TOS. ie: Adult, Alcohol, Gambling etc.
